  • Stopping an Active Shooter's Negative Mind Pattern

What causes a person to become so angry that they become an Active Shooter with the intent of killing many innocent people? A better question is what can be done to stop them once they enter a building?

We have all experienced bad days. It can start off with sleeping late trying to hurry, spilling hot coffee all over yourself. Stubbing your toe. getting pulled over for speeding. It seems to snowball. I was experiencing a day such as and realized wow I am feeling stressed. I decided change my mood and took a hot shower and put on some Ella Fitzgerald. if she can’t get you out of a bad mood nothing can't. Then it hit me. I am playing Emergency Notification announcements for students and faculty but what am I playing for an Active Shooter?

An Active Shooter may be very angry so what can I play that is powerful enough to break the negative thought pattern. I thought of Ella but chances are they may not be a fan. That is when I remembered a Hawaiian Prayer called Ho'Oponopono it simply says "I am Sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank you, I Love You. What if I recorded a large group of kids repeating the prayer and played it through the schools overhead paging system? Could this be enough to break the pattern? These may be words this angry person may need to hear. There are so many traumas that could have caused this person to snap.

I called Penton USA to discuss how we could add the Ho'Oponopono prayer to the Active Shooter Notification and it turns out it can be easily added. I never want to find out if this works.
