This is an exhaust chimney and end of row door solution to support a group of enclosures being fed conditioned air from an above cabinet source.
This data center is located in an underground facility which was constructed from an old mine. The infrastructure was fixed. The cold air delivery system was already in place. We were asked to develop an efficient means to contain the cold air and to remove the heated exhaust from the chimney. The use of end-of–aisle doors helped create, in essence, “a cup” into which the cold air could fall as it sought the lowest point in the space. As the “cup” fills with cold air, it can easily move into the cabinets to cool the equipment mounted within.
The angled chimneys provide an efficient and effective means to remove hot exhaust from the enclosures while eliminating any chance for hot air recirculation into the cold aisle.
